- Local broadcast
Defined as a broadcast to nodes on the same BACnet Network as the sender.
IP Networks: An Local IP broadcast to the local IP subnet only. e.g. 192.168.1.255 (Subnet mask 255.255.255.0)
MSTP Networks: ???
- Remote broadcast
When the DNET specified, and the MAC address is zero (length is 0)
A DNET of 0xffff indicates a Global Broadcast (see below)
- Directed broadcast
BBMD specific terminology: On BACnet/IP networks, requires the use of a BBMD

- Global broadcast
DNET = 0xffff DLEN = 0
On BACnet/IP networks, requires the use of a BBMD to enable the broadcast to transition across IP Subnets.
